Project Description
This is a four storey building comprising 19 studio apartments for single people at risk of homelessness. 9 of these are allocated to low-income employed people, and 10 to unemployed people who receive Centrelink benefits.
Project Partners
This project was made possible through funding of over $3.5 million from the Office of Housing and a further $400,000 donation from the City of Yarra. Other important partners in the project include Stoll-Long Architecture, VicTrack and Behmer and Wright.
Design Features
The building has the following environmentally sustainable and design features: Energy saver gas heaters Cooling through cross flow ventilation, ceiling fans and air flow security doors on all units Bulk supply utilities with no need for tenants to arrange individual utilities Free common laundry facilities with high speed, water efficient, front loading machines Gas boosted solar hot water with storage and quick recovery capacity Electronic access control and CCTV security Secure bicycle storage High performance glazing Landscaped garden area with BBQ facility
