Project Description
This is a mixed-use development comprising 3 precincts with studio apartments and family units. It also includes a communal family garden space, bike store and car parking spaces.
Project Partners
This project was made possible through funding of over $9 million from the Office of Housing. Other important partners include Stoll-Long Architecture and Barwon Youth Services.
Design Features
The building has the following environmentally sustainable and general design features: Energy saver gas heaters Cooling through cross flow ventilation, ceiling fans and air flow security doors on all units Free common laundry facilities with high speed, water efficient, front loading machines (singles accom. only) Gas boosted solar hot water with storage and quick recovery capacity Electronic access control Secure bicycle storage Sunscreen roller blinds to all living rooms and block-out roller blinds to all bedrooms Generous open space in the family area for entertainment and children's play area including seating and BBQ facility Underground storm water retention tanks (20,000L capacity) for irrigation of garden beds
