Project Description
This is a 21 unit development for young people at a high risk of homelessness. It includes a common lounge room, laundry, roof terrace and bike store as well as an office space currently leased by AFL Ladder.
Project Partners
This project was made possible through funding of over $3.5 million from the Office of Housing. Other important partners include AFL Ladder, Melbourne City Mission, Stoll-Long Architecture and Behmer and Wright.
Design Features
The building has the following environmentally sustainable and general design features: Energy saver gas heaters Cooling through cross flow ventilation using central stair case chimney with temperature sensitive louvres, ceiling fans in units and air flow security doors on all units Bulk supply utilities with no need for tenants to arrange individual utilities Free common laundry facilities including high speed, water efficient, front loading machines Gas boosted solar hot water with storage and quick recovery capacity Electronic access control
