Project Description
This is an 8 unit development of studio apartments including 2 disability modified units. It is targeted at singles.
Project Partners
This project was made possible through funding of over $900,000 from the Office of Housing and a contribution of over $35,000 from Melbourne City Mission (towards ESD and amenity). Other important partners include Moreland City Council, Michael McKenna Architecture and Interiors, Rush\Wright Associates and Jacman Builders Pty Ltd.
Design Features
The building has the following environmentally sustainable and general design features: Internal structural brick work to create thermal mass Reflective venetian blinds for light and sun control Gas boosted solar hot water Individual gas space heaters Cooling through cross flow ventilation Free common laundry facilities including high speed, water efficient, front loading machines Storm water retention for garden use Drought tolerant landscaping Bulk supply utilities to remove the need for tenants to arrange individual utilities
