Project Description
This is a 20 unit refurbishment comprising 18 studios, 2 disability modified units and 6 car parking spaces. It also includes a common room, laundry, drying room and secure bike store.
Project Partners
This project was made possible through funding of over $400,000 from the Office of Housing. Other important partners include Cooks Carmichael Architecture and Mackie & Staff Pty Ltd.
Design Features
The building has the following environmentally sustainable and general design features:
Gas fired hydronic heating
Cooling through cross ventilation and sun blinds with high wind sensors
Drying room that uses heat from hydronic heating system
Free common laundry facilities, high speed, water efficient, front loading machines
Gas boosted solar hot water with storage and quick recovery capacity
Water saving low flow shower heads
Rain water harvesting to underground tanks for garden watering
Bulk supply utilities to eliminate the need for tenants to arrange individual utilities
